Welcome to "Update Action!" the daily/weekly/bi-weekly update section for all the boring, inane details of the progress of Boss Tweeter.  Besides that, this section will feature little anecdotes, gig and practice recaps, and all the other stuff that comes with being in a band.  So check back sometime, and maybe you'll find an entertaining (or at least amusing) break from your mindless web surfing.

Other updates are also posted on Boss T's MySpace blog.

12/25/05 - Merry Christmas! Once again two months have flown by and I've got all of the juicy scandals for you.  So, with this year coming to a close, we once again find ourselves in the studio recording some new (and old) material.  Our old bassist Alex has taken the helm of these recording sessions with great results thus far.  We hope to be done with the new tracks in just a couple of weeks, as Alex will be leaving the country and spending a few years abroad.  The meat and potatoes of the current sessions are the tracks "Tools of Persuasion" and "Farewell and Adieu."  We've also been doing some tinkering with a few of the tracks on I was the Motive and if the results are favorable I think we'll probably make a running change to the record and change a few things up (However, if this does happen all of the altered material will be available for free online).

Most of the bands other energies have been put into crafting the Christmas present that you hopefully received in the mail this week.  And the secret identity of that present is.....the I was the Kringle EP.  We hope that you are enjoying the four garden fresh cuts that are on the record.  If you were unaware that we were sending out a holiday surprise, there are still a few copies available.  Just send us an email with your name and mailing address and you'll have a copy of your very own.  That said, it is late (or very early) and I am in need of Z's.  I hope that you've had an excellent holiday season.  We are grateful for each and every one of you who has come to the shows, shook our hands, bought a record, and all of the other goodness that comes with swell fans like you guys!  Tweeter love for all!  Until next time,

11/01/05 - Wow, it's been awhile since I've updated this (don't I always say that?).  Anywho, it's been a crazy weekend for Tweeter to be sure.  First off, we played a show down at Studio Seven to a few hundred folks on Sunday.  The crowd was a really great and alot of Halloween merriment was had.  If you weren't there then I'll fill you in.  We had a 10 ft inflatable grim reaper, fog machines, and the official Boss Tweeter candy bar.  To top it off, Tyler played bass while laying on his back...that silly guy.  Right after the show the excitement continued when we popped on the radio and there we were again!  107.7 the End somehow got a hold of us through Myspace and gave "Insomnia Jam" a spin for the Seattle area to enjoy.  After all of Sunday's crazyness you think we'd take some time to kick back and relax, but NO!  Monday was Rick's annual Haunted House and all the members of Tweeter (including our old bassist Alex) and a few friends scared the kids of Kent for a solid two hours on Halloween night....So all in all a busy time for the Tweeter boys.  If you feel the urge to hear some Tweeter during the day, call those guys at the End and tell them that you want to hear more tunes (Boss Tweeter tunes that is).  Until next time,

-Mike

P.S. A big thanks to Rick for sacrificing his garage to the haunted cause for a whole month.  I hope the scares were worth it!

6/24/05 - At long last "I was the Motive" has been officially released.  The record can be found online at www.CdBaby.com and in various Seattle record stores as well.  Hopefully we will be able to increase distribution soon, but for now online is probably the best place to pick up your copy.  The band is very excited about the shows coming up this summer, and we are looking forward to debuting a handful of new songs too.  In addition, a number of the acoustic Boss Tweeter tracks have been finished recently, and will soon be available for your listening enjoyment.  We hope everyone is having a relaxing summer, and we hope to see you at our upcoming shows.

P.S.  "Hollis Brown" (the other band that I play lead guitar in) has just finished its first studio recordings.  The tracks can be found on our trusty MySpace page.

05/10/05 - Practices continue to roll along as usual; plenty of new songs are keeping us busy and hopefully will keep you entertained on a few summer nights soon.  We are still in the process of booking this summer's schedule, but we will have some concrete dates soon.  Although the album has yet to be officially released, the first run is selling quickly and isn't likely to last much longer.  However, fear not loyal Tweeter fan, because a second run will surely be on the way soon.  Until next time...

4/19/05 - Ok, so as of the past few weeks Boss T has been auditioning new bassists and the prospects look good.  At this point we are 99% sure that our search is over, but just to avoid any more "find a bassist/lose a bassist" posts, we are going to wait a bit to give the official word.  The band has finally received the first 100 copies of “I was the Motive”, and if you ask us nicely we might "leak" you a copy before the official release.  The official date has gotten pushed back a bit (as often tends to happen with these things), but I'll promise you now that the CD release will be worth the wait.  More breaking news about the record is on the way so stay tuned.

The band's recent practices have focused on getting bassist X up to speed on the current set of tunes, but we've also begun the process of fleshing out all of our new material.  New songs like "Tools of Persuasion" (a heavier track in the same vein as Untitled) and "Farewell and Adieu" (a more mellow Elliott Smithish number) have been receiving a healthy dose of jamming with the hope of bringing these songs to the stage soon.  All together I think that there are up to 10 songs in various stages of completion that we are trying to integrate into our current setlist.

In other news, we are seriously looking into a west coast tour this summer, so take cover because this poor indie band might be coming to rock your town....and then asking if we can sleep on your couch.  Until next time....

03/27/05 - Let's try this again......that's right, Boss T is once again on the search for bassists.  Due to conflicting commitments, Joe was not able to continue on the Tweeter crusade.  Album release plans are still in the works for late April/early May, however, and the first copies of "I was the Motive" are on the way.  Stay tuned for more updates.

03/04/05 - It looks as if our worldwide comprehensive search for a bass player has come to a happy end.  Joe Mehelich is the name of the talented fellow that all Boss Tweeter fans will come to know and love for his bass playing talents.  Our first show with Joe will be at the Old Redmond Fire House on the 11th (more on that in "Tour").
In other news, we are still finalizing the artwork for "I was the Motive", but it will definitely be released in April.  Email us directly if you would like to pre-order a copy, as the first run of the record will be fairly limited.  Also, look for a couple live acoustic tracks from last month's Lyons Den show to be hitting the Boss T Myspace in the next week.  As always we'll keep you up to date on the rock so check back soon!

02/01/05 - First off.....I haven't forgotten to post.....well, at least not completely.  If you cruise over to the Tweeter MySpace you are bound to find a few updates that never quite made their way here.  The band is definitely feeling some growing pains right now as we get ready to put all of our powers behind promoting our new record and getting it to the public's ears.  Unfortunately, Alex will be leaving the band after his brief stay as our first solid bass player.  Although he did record the tracks on the album, it does look as if his involvement in the band will cease after our February shows.  As you can probably gather, there are no tantalizing rock band break-up stories here, Alex has just decided to focus his many talents in other areas.  Moving forward, however, there are a few bassist possibilities on the horizon and we hope that this set back will not keep us out of the Seattle club scene for too long.

Many other gears are also moving in the Boss T machine as well, and the mastering on the new EP "I was the Motive" will be finished by weeks end.  Also, we have been laying down tracks for many of our acoustic songs in a studio known as Billy's Boutique.  It is not sure how or if these sessions will see official release, but at the very least I'm sure we'll have a couple available for download here online.  In the past month or so, we have also become savvy to the MySpace online community and are excited to be a part of that online music scene.  Please add us as a friend if you too are a MySpacer and we will do likewise and become the best creepy online "friend" that you have.
Other than that, the band is gearing up for our show this Friday at the Lyons Den Cafe.  We hope to see you there.

P.S.  Thanks for coming out and seeing the Tweeter rock in 2004. All the love and support was greatly appreciated, and we can only hope for the best in 2005.

11/25/04 - Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I hope you all are eating lots and having a splendid time with family and friends.  We just finished recording our new EP and we can't wait to release it for your listening enjoyment.  This weekend we will finish the mixing on the EP and then it's off to mastering.  We're probably looking at a late spring release by this point, but we'll let you hear a few of the tracks before that.  During the Christmas season and through most of January, Boss T will be taking a break from the shows to develop some new material and hopefully start tracking an acoustic EP.  Also, a big thank you to everyone who has made it out to the recent shows.  The fan support really means a lot.  Take it easy and keep checking back!  Until next time...

10/26/04 - Wow, all five of you who read this must be starving for an update.  Since I last posted we busted out some acoustic grooves at the Lyons Den and we also hit the studio to begin work on our forthcoming EP.  The studio work was quick and spontaneous, but not rushed.  We recorded two tracks, "Hellbent" and "Fashion..." and mixed them down in 13 hours.  For Boss T's first ventures into a real studio it was quite a success.  We'll be heading back in November to record the rest of the EP and it should be mastered before the end of the year.  During December, we will also be hitting another studio to record a second EP of acoustic material (more details on that as recording gets closer).  So as you can gather by this update and our Tour calendar...its been reeeeaallly busy.  Also, we now have Boss Tweeter buttons, so you can satisfy you indie craving. Well, I think that's all the big updates for now, but I've got bits and pieces of news that I'll let you know about in the coming weeks.  Tomorrow we will be rocking out in our quirky way at the Graceland so we hope to see you there and that you will purchase many Boss Tweeter buttons.  Until next time....

9/19/04 - Well, our first show with Alex went pretty smoothly.  There were a couple of mishaps (such as me chipping my tooth on the microphone), but overall I think everyone involved had a good time and was pleased with the outcome.  However, even though the show is behind us, practices will continue at a frantic pace to get all the songs for our upcoming acoustic set on the 24th rehearsed.  Unfortunately, the T-shirts that I've spoken of recently haven't been printed yet, but the designs are finalized and we are in the process of finding the most cost-effective way to get them printed (the same goes for new stickers).  Another important tidbit of news is that we will be heading into the studio in early October to get a couple of songs recorded.  If the initial studio session goes well, more songs will undoubtedly be recorded not long after.  We are still undecided as to which format these recordings will be released on (full-length CD, EP, 7-inch), but that is something that will be decided a bit further down the line.  I think that's all for now.  Until next time....

-Mike

9/03/04 - So things continue to roll along and the practices are getting smoother and smoother with Alex.  Alot of the songs are getting some extra vocal touches and other goodness in addition to the bass lines.  I've been working a bunch on T-shirt ideas and I'm hoping to have some for sale at our upcoming show on the 18th.  We've also been doing some research on what studio we want to head into to record our newer (and older) material.  It's good to be in our new web home at www.bosstweeter.com as well.  I think that's all for now, but I'll keep you posted as always.  Until next time....
